MTW ON THE ROAD IN THE STUDIO ON THE ROOF IN THE RAIN

MTW has, since the last blog, been on the road, in the studio, on Greg's roof rocking and tracking some annoying rain storm. This is how it all went down.

It was a nice Hot saturday afternoon when I and all the other weldermen met up at our rehearsal studio in Bushwick to pack our gear into Steve's car and start our journey to PA.

(one day we will know by <3 where it all goes)

This trip to the Harrisburg area, was to play a gig supporting the launch of our beloved "The Black Saxons" CD Disaster.
It took us 2 full hours from Bushwick to the Holland Tunnel.

After.crossing the tunnel and reaching NJ, the trip would have been quite "Peachy" if it wasn't for our bypassing our target location by a few miles.
And i thought that GPS malfunction only happened in small towns in rural Brazil.

Where? What?
Our getting semi lost was not in vain, Declan & Greg managed to grab a case of beer and all was fine once again.
When we arrived at the Whole Cannoli, the Dirty Shames were hanging in the parking lot,

The Black Saxons were playing some music and a hand full of homeless punks, most likely rich "kids", were moshing and stinking up the place, literally.
The Whole Cannoli was NOT happening, but The Dirty Shames still played a punchy set, Us Welders played a solid show right before The Saxons taking the "stage". They played 2 songs before a total meltdown or a beautiful Disaster.

Damn you all lovely Saxons!
It was close to 2 am, I had a splitting headache due to a lung infection I was unaware i had.
Declan massaged my temples, Don of the Saxons lit us some firework and we left for NY. Lar doce lar.

OK! It was not quite this pretty but impressive still.

8 st. station at 4.30 am waiting for the subway home.

A couple of weeks later it was time for us to go back to the recording studio and start making some magic. I met Steve earlier in the day at his place for some awesome home made pumpkin pancakes.

While eating al fresco with Steve and Amy, i once again fell for a Pussy. Most of you know it isn't my "forte", but how can one resist this one amazing Pussy?!

Our first 8 hour recording session went really well. We were very prepared and Ben was very mellow and pleasant to work with.

We recorded 5 songs and hope to start releasing them in early october.

Last saturday was the awaited roof rockfest event we all looked so forward to and in great MTW fashion a storm was born and moved our way ever so slowly. The first band had to call off their performance due to some illness or their drummer and a hospital stay, something like that. Right up MTW alley .
With modern gadgets in hand most of us followed the storm coming our way and hoped for the high rain probabilities to be wrong. Shhhh...my phone is not that smart ( i don't want to hurt its tech feelings), so i relied on the kindness of others and their smart gadgets aka smart phones.
The rain came and went throughout the event.

The Black Saxons arrived just in time to take over and Rock OUT in great style. Steve joined in and fulfilled his dream of playing with them. I must confess i was a little jealous. Perhaps i was just really proud to see his talent and know that he is with us. Yeah! That's it.

The saxons played a full set with no interruption from "Sao Pedro" and the rain. It was now our turn to take the stage and do what we do best. Play an amazing live show.

There were not enough positive dry thoughts or reverse rain dance to stop it. And it came down half way in our set.

The rain started to come down heavily. We kept going and so did the audience. But when Declan could no longer see through his drenched glasses and the high risk of electrocution, it was time to sadly give up and pack it all up. We still managed to play a beautiful 1/2 set. Now, you all will have to come to us for more. Like candy. :)

Tomorrow the guys are going back to the recording studio to finalize laying their phenomenal vocals, and in two weeks we are off to Boston for the mixing. Exciting times. These tunes will be sounding amazing soon and we can't wait to share them with you.

MAYBE THE WELDERS 2011

I guess by now you all know that the world did not end as predicted, or did it?

Is this the after life?!

If it is or is not, one thing is certain, there is no stopping Maybe The Welders on their plan to World ( or what is left of it) domination.
2011 has been a busy and accomplished year for the Weldermen and promises to keep the fiery pace to the very end of the year.

In march we played a Rocking shirt ripping show at Mercury lounge.

Followed by shows in Harrisburg PA and a few venues in Brooklyn including The roof top in Bushwick and Don Pedro's, kicking off the Infringement Festival in NY, continuing later in Montreal.

My "amazing "meal aboard Amtrak's Cafe car. 11 hours later i was in Montreal.

It was our first time taking part of the Infringement Festival and our first time in Montreal. We had an amazing
time Rocking and touring this beautiful city.

This week, thursday the 21st to be exact, we are playing Bar Matchless in Williamsburg for the first time and heading once more to the Harrisburg area, where will be supporting one of our favorite bands, " The Black Saxons", on their CD release show.

We have our recording sessions booked for the end of the month at Newkirk Studios in Brooklyn.

It's very exciting going back to the studio and now with the addition of our Bassist extraordinaire , Steve Ferrara. After the recordings are complete we are heading to Boston to mix with Matthew Girard.
MTW is on fire.
Our first brush with management did not go as expected but now with our beloved Jackle Whatsin on board, everything is going as planned.

Maybe The Welders

Hey Friends! It has been a little while since my last blog entry and so much has happened: oil is gushing out, the i pad is selling like magnolia cupcakes, the world cup is in full force and Kat Cahill is no longer our full time bassist. Kat has contributed immensely to our sound but is now dedicating some well deserved time to herself and her personal projects. Kat will always be a Welder to us. After her departure, about 2 moths ago, we went on a journey to find a replacement. We auditioned some talented bass players and after a few call backs, we found our perfect match, Steve Ferrara. He is an amazing bassist, a true gentleman, but a real rocker nonetheless. We are extremely happy to have him on board embracing Maybe the Welders. Last month we resumed mixing 3 more tracks in Boston with super talented Matthew Girard and will have them mastered next month by Jeff Lipton, also in Boston. Soon after, our intention is to release a 7 song electronic EP , a new video and plan a small U.S. tour in the fall.We rocked Brazil and now it is time to do the same here. Speaking of Brazil, we did have an amazing time there despite some rain, surviving food poisoning ( Declan & Kat) and getting a sunburn on a sunless day( Greg), Hey!!! He mastered walking in flip flops. We had a blast being interviewed by the cool people of the radio show " Geleia Moderna" in Rio and played some really cool venues. Rio was cool but our shows in Belo Horizonte and Juiz De Fora were beyond our expectations in all aspects. We are looking forward to playing in Brazil again. Our goal is to expand our brazilian tour to more cities next year.
We all hope to see you very soon in one of our upcoming shows.

The new Maybe The Welders

We had our share of changes this year and plenty of growth along with them.
Nick Zelletz and Mike Troha have both moved on to other projects and with Troha's somewhat abrupt but not surprising decision, the band was once more left without a full time bass player.
Kat Cahill came to our rescue and joined in for the gigs we had lined up. Already an amazing guitar player, Kat came out of her bass shell and proved to be a brilliant bassist as well.
Now Kat is an important element of MTW and with one less guitar, the sound is what we always aimed for: Clean, direct, on your face Rock.
We have recorded a few new tracks and are now working to get them ready for release in the very near future.
Maybe The Welders is looking forward to what is ahead. The Birthday show in november ( Greg Campbell and Pitti share the same birthday, coincidence?! I think NoT.), the release of the new tracks and our tour in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in march 2010.
Hope you will all keep up with us. We are very excited to Rock the hell out of you very soon.

Hey Gang(sters)!!

Hope this note will find you well and dandy!

Since my last blogging action, some changes in our beloved MTW have taken place.
At the end of 08 and beginning of 09,Bruno, our bassist left the group in search of his own music adventures. Mostly going back into old roots of brazilian music.
Greg's sister Kat, flew from LA to join us as a temp bassist. She played with us in Boston @ Church and also @ Spike Hill Music in Brooklyn. We were all thankful but we were still in search of our full time.bass player. Our handsome and super talented friend Mike Troha joined us in some gigs we were scheduled to play. He had helped us in the past in some similar situation, but it had been a while. We secretly or perhaps not so secretly after all, hoped he would join MTW full time. In our first rehearsal with Mike Troha, in preparation for the booked gigs, i, being the perceptive being that I am, noticed that we were actually auditionong FOR him and half way through our "rehearsal" he asked to join the band. No one truly believed Mike. We thought he was joking . He wasn't and his talent and fresh ears has just improved our sound.
Maybe The Welders with its new formation is now in full gear. All the elements needed to complement our music is now welded.
With some more recordings and a new video soon to take place. Greg,Declan,Nicky,Mike and I hope to see you all in one of our next gigs. Or All of them. Why not?!

Hey!

Maybe The Welders is working full force to start the new year with several great surprises to all our fans.
Besides the 2 new songs and the videos, we are also planning another recording session to record 4 more songs, most likely in february.
After an impromptu meeting a week back, we are now, more than ever, all on the same page to bring MTW to the next level.
I am taking this opportunity to put in writing how very proud I am to be part of this project.
Maybe The Welders was a little dream that took off after a hand full of very talented men joined in.
Greg Campbell, Declan Collins, Bruno Tavares and Nick Zelletz never fail to amaze me with their own individual talents and awesome ideas. I feel very lucky.
We had some flesh blood in our audiance @ our last gig and one of them was Gus Ruiz. This really cool dude shared his MTW experience on his Blog. Just click the link (Villainous) at the bottom of the page.
I hope you are all taking it easy and enjoying the holiday season the best way you can.

YES WE FUCKING CAN!!!!!

New York december 9th 2009

Hey!

Profanity usage....me?! Nah.
Since my last blogging experience, a lot has happened.
I got a cold. I got better. Bruno got a cold and got better. Greg and I had our birthdays. As some of you know, we share the same b'day( save this info for future trivia).He is getting close and almost catching up with me, age wise. Dorian who??
Declan got whiter. Believe me. It is possible. Nick's pecs got bigger. And together we are rocking more than ever.
We went back to the studio and recorded 2 new songs...GOT YOU WRAPPED and STREETS OF RIO.
We performed them together for the very first time in our last gig @ The R Bar. For those of you who were present, ThAnK YoU!!! The vibe was electric and amazing. We love you for that.
The 2 new songs are being mastered as i type and very soon you will all have the pleasure to enjoy them.
In january we will be shooting the video for STREETS OF RIO and soon after the video for GOT YOU WRAPPED.
We are also going to play in Boston in Feb. We are all looking forward to that.
